Akinmayokun Awodumila, better known as (Mr) May D, is Nigerian Afro-pop singer, formerly signed to defunct R&B duo P-Square record label “Square Records” in 2011. The promising star has inked his signature on the dotted line as the latest addition to the expansive record label by Nigerian international popstar, Davido.
According to information reaching us, the deal was signed and sealed on July 18, 2020. Reacting excitedly about the new turn of event in his camp, the Soundtrack crooner took to his social media pages to let his fans and well wishers into the new development.
After parting ways with dissolved Square Records in 2012, Mr May D quickly floated his own record label called Confam Entertainment but did find it uneasy getting a corresponding attention to his music as he used to even after rolling out couple of projects (including his latest body of work “May Day: High With You (The EP)” which rolled almost unnoticed).
He recently called out his former employers (P-Square, now perform separately as Mr P and Rudeboy) on social media, sharing his ordeal while signed to their record label.
Joining the fast growing Record Label in Africa, DMW/30BG, Mr May D somewhat made the right decision with the move. Utilizing the wide range of fan base availed to him by the label and his co-label artistes, his music will definitely get that needed attention so deserved.
We rejoice with him and hope to see him attain that dreamed height in music sphere.
